Dr. Annalee Coakley is a family physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine, where she also serves as Director of Community Engaged Learning. She is co-director of the Migration Humanitarian Health Collective (MH2C), and Director of Strategic Partnerships and Global Engagement for the Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers.
As Medical Director of Calgary's Mosaic Refugee Health Clinic from 2012 to 2024, she transformed the clinic into one of Canada's most recognized refugee primary care programs.
Together with her colleagues, she successfully advocated for changes to federal family reunification policies affecting Yazidi refugees, co-created two intersectoral organizations supporting the mental health and resettlement of Yazidi survivors of genocide, and helped lead Calgary's COVID-19 outbreak response and vaccination clinics at meat-processing plants.
She has chaired the North American Refugee Health Conference and currently co-chairs the International Refugee and Migration Health Conference.
Her contributions have been recognized through numerous honours, including the College of Family Physicians of Canada's Jean-Pierre Despins Award (2024) and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
