WHO — Migration, Health & Climate Change

A multi-year partnership with the WHO Department of Health and Migration to author the WHO World Report on Migration, Health and Climate Change and support global policy dialogue.

Duration: December 2024 – February 2026 · Partner: WHO Department of Health & Migration (HEP/PHM)

Why this work matters

Climate change and migration are two of the defining forces shaping global health, and they compound one another. Our partnership with the WHO brings evidence and analysis to bear on how countries plan — or fail to plan — for the health impacts of migration in a changing climate.

Addressing this gap requires better evidence: understanding how countries are accounting for mobile populations in their climate adaptation plans, mapping the data that exists, identifying what is missing, and building the tools and infrastructure needed to turn that evidence into action. This is the work MH2C and WHO set out to do together.

WHO World Report on Migration, Health, and Climate Change

Through a formal partnership with the WHO Health and Migration Programme, MH2C contributed two chapters to the upcoming WHO World Report on Migration, Health and Climate Change.

Chapter 1 — National Action Plans & Health National Adaptation Plans

A systematic analysis of how migration and health are (and are not) represented in country climate-adaptation plans.

Chapter 2 — Mapping Data on Migration, Health & Climate Change

An inventory and assessment of available UN data on migration, health, and climate — and the gaps between them.
